Attractions and things to do

Abergele Public Park

The local public park in Abergele is a real treat right on the doorstep for the caravan owners at Pentre Mawr.

There is so much to do at the park;

  • Abergele Town teams play there regularly.
  • They have several teams for football, rugby, and cricket.
  • When the matches are not being held the pitches are available for all to use.

Other facilities include;

  • A children’s park
  • 2 tennis courts
  • 2 all weather 5-a-side/basketball pitches
  • Cricket nets
  • Excellent parking
  • Cricket pavilion
  • 2 wildlife ponds and one with a newly built viewing platform

The local council have recently laid a tarmac path around the perimeter of the park so it is still possible to take a stroll in the wettest of weathers.

It is also an excellent area to walk your dog!

Abergele Golf Club

Regarded as one of the most picturesque courses in Wales with the magnificent backdrop of Historic Gwrych Castle, Abergele Golf Club remains a firm favourite with both members and those who choose to visit from all over the golfing world.

The delightful 18 hole Parkland Course boasts many enviable features.

The course was established in its present position in 1968 to the historic grounds of Gwyrch Castle with magnificent coastal views

This is a particular favourite of ours locally.

Just a short drive out of town up into the hills above Abergele it is such a beautiful drive to get to the village of Llanfair Talhaiarn.

Bit of a mouthful and don’t ask me to pronounce it, please!

Better known (thank God!) as Llanfair TH.

The food is excellent and the prices are reasonable.

Pen-y-Bont | Bridge Street | Abergele | Conwy | LL22 7HA

So, went out for Cath’s Birthday meal last night to the Pen y Bont in Abergele.

We decided to walk up, cold but only took about 15 minutes.

It was really busy when we got there so good job we booked!

We sat at our table straight away and we could order drinks from there instead of waiting at the bar.

It isn’t your high-end menu but looked really good home-style food.

I thought I would attach photos of the food as well as it looked so good. I must say all of the food we had was excellent quality and the chunky chips were amazing!

As we were eating a singer was setting up, he was brilliant – a Michael Buble type singer.

We were too stuffed to have a sweet!

9 of us went and it cost £45 a couple with drinks and tip, we all thought this was good value!

All in all a great evening with great food and entertainment.

We will definitely go again.
